An Archaic Word in Turkic Language Ala？uk: An Etymological-Structural Analyses

The geography determines society's lifestyle. Becuase of this reality, the space play very important roles in human life, understanding and culture. In the beginning; hunting, animal husbandry and later agriculture shaped the life of old Turks as well as their language. Since then, some words and some language usages explain and reflect their understanding and their life styles. The need for a shelter is one of the most basic needs of a person. For this reason, the words of the hut “ala？uk” have existed from the very beginning and carried the core vocabulary. It is understood that one of the oldest shelters of the Turks is a kind of hut called as ala？uk in Turkic language. In other words, it might be said that the word ala？uk is one of the historical memories of Turkic poeple and Turkic world. In this study; the widespread word ala？uk founding in historical and contemporary dialects of Turkic language will be examined etimologically from a historical and contemporary perpespectives. For this, assumptions and proposals made regarding the origin and structure will be evaluated and a structure-origin analysis will be made regarding the origin and structure of the hut ala？uk
