Abstract:

In this study, the researcher aims to present student views on the game and competition technique of history courses. Research is qualitative study of student views. In 2016-2017 academic year, the study group consisted of 72 students, 22 male and 50 female, who were educated in 10/A-B-C classes of Kaz?m Karabekir Fen Lisesi in Akda?madeni in Yozgat. In the experimental design used for the method of study, the researcher examined the textbooks and curriculum of secondary education history in 2016-2017 education and academic year, 10. class history lesson 5. He developed the “longest century (1800-1922)” unit of the unit and the game he called “I have the answer” to cover the gains of the unit. After the application, semi-structured interview technique was used as a data gathering tool. In this research, which was designed in line with qualitative research approach, “content analysis” was made and resolved in the form of code and theme. The data obtained by interviewing technique were digitized and expressed as frequency and percentage. As a result, students stated that the course of history was more enjoyable to work with the game and the competition technique. In this way, they expressed that information is more permanent, that it helps to reinforce and repeat, that the whole class is involved, and that a competition environment is formed. They stated that this situation eliminated the problem of firming, that the lessons attracted more attention, that their success would increase, that their ability to take responsibility and risk improved, that they were motivating, and that they tried to make up for their mistakes and to learn the truth. However, the teacher should not be angry with the students during the application, after a while the student does not listen to the lesson and the negative opinion that the participation in the course will be affected. The idea of a noisy environment is common in responses to unpleasant directions. Attention deficit disorder, the teacher's authority expressed concerns about the negative opinions are mentioned
