Situations of Gifted Students to Ethical Dilemmas: EPGBU Program Case

Abstract:

The issue of providing appropriate training for the moral development of the gifted is neglected. Determining the moral level of gifted students is very important to understand the impact of the program applied on students' moral development. In this study, it is aimed to investigate the status of the gifted students in the academic field who participated in EPGBU in the face of the ethical dilemmas they may face during their education. Research is a case study of qualitative research types. The participants of the study were 12 gifted students. The students were diagnosed as gifted. They have been continuing to EPGBU for 1.5 years. The age range is between 10-11. As a data collection tool, 5 ethical dilemma scenarios were created as a gifted student in the academic field. The ethical dilemma forms created were distributed to the students and asked to answer them. Topics of these ethical dilemmas; ”Doing projects on behalf of someone else”, ”Hacking of EPGBU site m, g?sterme Showing the incomplete project eyi, esi Getting help in project competition inin,” Copying a scholarship to a friend to be dropped proje. Students' answers to ethical dilemmas were subjected to content analysis. When the answers of EPGBU students to ethical dilemmas are examined, it is seen that most of the students are in the traditional period of Kohlberg. According to their peers, this situation can be said to have a better level of moral development. However, very few students have reached the level of moral development in the beyond-tradition period.
