INVESTIGATION ON THE USE OF BASMAKCI LIMESTONE FOR HIGHWAY CONSTRUCTION

In order to determine the suitability of a material for road construction, various quality control experiments should be carried out on the material by investigating the engineering properties of the material. Application of these analyses is extremely important in terms of whether the highway is able to provide service over long years with high standards. This study was conducted to investigate the suitability of Ba？mak？？ limestone for road construction. In the study; the engineering properties of the samples taken from the limestone rocks obtained from the quarries of Nigde Ba？mak？？ region were investigated. The engineering properties of main rocks are the mineralogical structure, compressive strength, tensile strength, modulus of elasticity, surface hardness, unit weight, water absorption and apparent porosity.
