Defense of Free Market Economy and Liberte Publications: Achievements and Requirements

Anti-capitalist/anti-liberal mentality is common among intellectuals in Turkey but it is wrong to think that this stiuation is irreversiable. However it is not possible to change intellectuel positions through merely explaining principle of normative liberalism and making cultural interpretations. Rational choice analysis of new institutional economics that has been developed after the second half of the 20th century has increased the explanational capability of liberal social theory wihout applying normative assertions. Liberte Publishing has translated some of the important books related to new institutionalism. However, in order to gain advantage in the intellectual battle, it is essential to make new explanations on the development of the anti-liberal institutions of Turkey, starting from the era of Tanzimat. Although it is possible to start such an intellectual initiative, Liberte Publishing needs to start a new publishing program to reach such a goal
