Trade Amphoras Discovered at Klazomenai FGT (Feride Gül Field) Sector

Trade amphoras play an important role in the identification and understanding of the intricate trade relation of the Ancient period. Under the light of the recent data obtained during the excavations at ancient sites significant steps were taken in identifying the production site of these amphorae based on the typographical classifications and clay analysis in addition to numismatic and epigraphical sources even identifying the trade items they contained such as wine and olive oil became likely. This study scrutinizes the mushroom-lipped Solokha I amphorae named by Zeest and the Thasos, Khios and Samos amphorae discovered at Klazomenai 4th BC settlement. The sherds of trade amphorae unearthed at Klazomenai 4th BC settlement were mainly dated to early and mid-4th century BC in view of the layers they were obtained or their similars. The mentioned period covers the second architectural phase of the settlement between the first quarter of 4th century BC and mid-4th century BC and the third architectural phase of the city in the mid4th century BC
