Because what determines the university is neither the academician and students in it nor the local or neo-liberal policies. When we think of the university as a place, we can see that concept of space includes many elements ranging from academicians to students, to the curriculum and to the physical structure. As a space, the university is a historical, cultural, geographical, physical, political, and pedagogical structure. There are certain similarities between spaces as well as their unique differences. Therefore, when we discuss the university, the conditions under which we speak become important. As an academician living and working in the ‘ta?ra’, in this article, I discuss ‘ta?ra’ form of university and sociology by evaluating my experiences about undergraduate sociology education in the ‘ta?ra’ a long time ago critically
