EDUCATION IN THE REPORTS OF THE IMPROVEMENT COMMISSIONS (1845-1847)Keywords: E?itim, Tanzimat, Reform, ?mar Meclisleri, Osmanl? ?mparatorlu?u. Abstract: The Improvement Commissions were established in February 1845 in order to see the results of the Tanzimat implementations in place and to determine what should be done for the development of the country. At the same time, in order to learn about the problems of the country, two people from each region were invited to Istanbul and requested reports from them. While the reports of the representatives of the provinces generally include such things as tax, agriculture, construction of roads and bridges and public works, there is no mention of education and schools. However, the sixth item of the instruction given to the improvement commissions is about the determination of the schools and the educational situation in the provinces, and the reports of the councilors often include information on the situation of schools and the schools teachers. Therefore, in this study, the reports submitted by the improvement commissions will be examined and an evaluation will be made on the trainings of the provinces of schools and schools teachers
