The Relationship between Socio-cultural and Demographic Characteristics of Student Nurses with Child Abuse and Neglect AwarenessKeywords: ?ocuk istismar?,ihmal,kültür,fark?ndal?k,hem?irelik ??rencileri Abstract: Aim: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between socio-cultural and demographic characteristics of nursing students with awareness of child abuse and neglect. Methods: This is a descriptive type study. Sample is composed of 121 students. A questionnaire developed by Altan was used to assess awareness towards child abuse and neglect. The data were evaluated using Mann Whitney U and Kruskal Wallis test. Results: The mean total awareness score related with child abuse and neglect was found to be 79.17±9.45. It was determined that nursing students' awareness levels were affected by age, class, number of siblings, self-defined behavior and perceived social support levels. Conclusion: In the current study, it was determined that nursing students’ awareness levels of child abuse and neglect were good. Keywords: Child abuse, neglect, awareness, nursing student
