On Ziya G？kalp’s Philosophy Courses

The most comprehensive work of Ziya G？kalp, one of the contemporary Turkish thinkers, is “Felsefe Dersleri”. One of the six subheadings is Science and Philosophy and is related to the subject of the article. In the title of Science and Philosophy, it is seen that G？kalp handles science and philosophy writings in journals and newspapers such as “Gen？ Kalemler” and “Yeni Hayat”. Other subheadings are Psychology, Language and Art, Logic, Morality and Metaphysics. He examined social and political doctrines on the basis of both analytic and moral philosophy. He discussed metaphysics with matter, God, and spirit. G？kalp divided knowledge into two as creative knowledge and created knowledge. According to him, creative knowledge is the active procedures used in researching the truths. A team of thinkers think that there is an anti-colonial reaction on the basis of G？kalp's distinction. Beyond being a mere theorist, with courses, G？kalp aimed to establish a bridge between knowledge and life. He tried to establish a system of philosophical education based on discussion, responsibility, freedom and competition from primary to university education
