A Life Dedicated to Learning: Visit to Prof. Dr. ？smail Cerraho？lu and Observations

The Qur'an is a divine message sent to all mankind. This divine message was revealed in a certain language and history and addressed to all mankind. Islamic scholars, especially since the second century after hijra, have made efforts to understand and make sense of the Qur'an and the divine injunction. As a result of this effort, various Islamic disciplines emerged. One of these disciplines is the science of tafsir, which aims to understand the Qur'an and to determine divine injunction. Many scholars in the field of tafsir have been raised and many valuable works have been written. One of the last links of this process is Prof. Dr. ？smail Cerraho？lu is an important and pioneering scholar as he penned academic works which brought heritage of fields of ulum al-Qur'an and tafsir to light, raised many students and helped the formation of department of tafsir. Therefore, this article includes an interview conducted with Cerraho？lu, some observations about our visit and some photographs
