Abstract:

The present research was carried out to examine effects of 7-year regeneration on Turkish Red Pine (P. brutia) near Ovac?k village in Afyonkarahisar-Ba?mak?? region, a marginal zone for red pine. Study area was artificially regenerated in 2010 with the same exposure distribution. Three different regeneration methods were applied as clear cutting the seed trees and spreading branches with cones on regeneration area, soil preparation with dozer ripper and planting 1+0 old seedlings and soil preparation with labor force and then planting 1+0 old seedlings. Significant differences (p<0.05) were found among the artificial generation methods in terms of seedling root collar diameter and height growth according to results of variance analysis. The most successful application was found in the areas which were prepared by dozer ripper where seedling height of 109.3 cm and root collar diameter of 30.9 mm were measured. On the other hand, the lowest values were observed on the areas where human labor was used with average seedling height of 66.2 cm and root collar diameter of 14.2 mm. Mean seedling heights and root collar diameters on regeneration areas with clear cutting the seed trees and spreading branches with cones, were 87 cm and 22.4 mm, respectively. Positive relationships were determined between the soils that treated using dozer ripper with seedling height and root collar diameter. Moreover, negative relationships were observed among soil silt amount, seedling height and root collar diameter. In addition, positive relationships were detected among soil organic matter content, seedling height and root collar diameter
