An Early Bronze Age Seal From ?arh?yük

Abstract:

?arh?yük – Dorylaion, located to the North of Eski?ehir city centre, has exhibited a cultural sequence from the 3rd millennium BC to the end of the 12th century AD. Although not connected to a stratigraphical architectural layer, the excavations on the mound provided a series of figurines, spindle-whorls, weights, and a considerable large repertory of pottery dating to the Early Bronze Age. The Early Bronze Age stamp seal, unearthed in 2016 campaign and introduced in this paper, is another component of this group. The stamp with conical form, and bearing composite decoration patterns on the circular stamp surface, has been compared to the stone and earthen stamp seals from the other settlements excavated in Central Western Anatolia, in sense of form and decoration patterns. The seal in question can be dated roughly to the end of the Early Bronze Age II, with regards to the parallels and Early Bronze Age pottery from the mound
