Is There a Connection between Social Media Use and Self-Concealment and Life Satisfaction?

There are many reasons to lead people to use social media in social life. In this communication environment, the user can display his / her personal information via his / her own personal page and can communicate with each other through various applications such as a message section resembling an e-mail, acquire information, develop friendships, access people's contact information, share photographs and images with other people; it can present data to people. Social media is a medium in which users can express themselves with different identities. So, for people who are concerned about social visibility and who have a sense of self-concealment, social media offers a variety of possibilities. This positive or negative possibility that the social media has provided has also begun to be associated with the life satisfaction of the users. This research has been carried out in order to reveal the relationship between youth social media usage patterns, self-concealment and life satisfaction in the case of university students. Data were collected from 333 participants by field survey method. As a result of the research, there was no relationship between the duration of social media usage and self-concealment and life satisfaction. Trends in self-concealment increase the demand for social media to open accounts with different names and to introduce or reflect themselves differently. Those who do not open accounts with different names in social media have higher life satisfaction levels
