Waqf of Ad？yaman Sheikh Abdurrahman Erzincani Zawiyah

Sheikh Abdurrahman Erzincani built his zawiyah in Zey, a village of Adiyaman, in the 15th century. Donations made by the rulers and philanthropists of the period provided the base for the waqf. In the waqf of Sheikh Abdurrahman Erzincan？ Zawiyah – a family waqf- duties such as sheikhism, trusteeship, zaviyedarlik, and mezraadarlik were carried out by the descendants of sheikh Erzincani, until the end of the Ottoman period. Besides two mosques, the waqf served the public with institutions such as zawiyah, nursery school, madrasah and a soup kitchen for the poor. The income of the waqf was spent for the management and maintenance of these institutions, for the salaries of the staff and other related expenses. Waqf of Sheikh Abdurrahman Erzincani was a non-governmental organization serving to the public, thus supporting the state and was supported by it until the end of the Ottoman era
