Usability of Folk Songs in Turkish Education

The aim of the research is to examine the usability in turkish education of folk songs which are one of the most beautiful oral literary products of Turkish. Another aim of the research is to provide Turkish teachers with examples of text that they can use in Turkish lessons. The research was conducted with screening model. As the study meterial of the research, the source works of folk songs were determined. The folk songs collected from the source works were examined in terms of their usability in Turkish education. The collection of study data was carried out by documentary screening (document review). The findings obtained from the study metarials were presented with decriptive analysis. The results of the research are as follows: Folk songs are necessary product to transfer both Turkish and Turkish culture to future generations, offers rich content in many aspects of Turkish education, are products that can be used in the process of acquiring language skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) and in grammer activities
