Perdesi, Adverbial Kuram Abstract: The theory of sense-datum, as an act-object theory, commits itself to non-physical mental entitites and calls these objects sense-data. The theory defends this metaphysical claim particularly by the help of the argument from illusion. In explaining senseperception, within the acceptance of the phenomenal principle, this theory draws a veil over the physical objects. For Russell, Broad and Price, sense-data are the objects of immediate awareness and very different from physical objects, but this view may easily lead to skepticism about the external world. So sense-datum theory revals more problems than it solves. In this context, I will focus on the motivations of asserting the idea of sense-data. Then I will emphasize the important objections, one of which interprets sense-data as a myth.In the light of these objections, adverbial theory presents an alternative view about especially the visual perception and makes a strong criticism. Adverbial theory puts forward the way of perceiving instead of perceived objects and resolves important difficulties which sense-datum theory couldn’t manage. Therefore adverbial critic of the theory of sense-datum, succeeds to appreciate that there is no need to postulate nonphysical objects.
