Population, Settlement and Functional Characteristics of Bartin CityKeywords: Bart?n,?ehir,Nüfus,Fonksiyon,üniversite Abstract: Bartin city is located in Kure Mountains territory of Western Blacksea Region in the Blacksea Region. The city is positioned on 25 m. above the sea level and a various geomorphologic units of area. District units of the city are generally located on plateaus and hillsides among Orduyeri Tepesi, Kirtepe, Omer Tepesi montains and on plains of near Bartin River. Bartin has been a city center for 24 year old. While city population was 8681 in 1927, it increased to 66091 in 2015. After becoming province center, Bartin had an enormous growth in population and finance over the time. The city has an expansion in south direction. The reason for that is smooth topographical conditions. The south of the city is less uneven and more convenient for urbanization. Another effective factor for that is Bartin University located in the same direction. The city has recently got a rising momentum in population, finance and social life. Notably basic reasons for this development are the becoming province center, a new city university and public investments in industry, tourism and service sectors. Another issues taking attraction in the city is becoming together of modern and traditional buildings. In addition to this case creating vital potential in urban and culture tourism, it also draws attraction in urban morphology
