Social Studies 6th Grade Curriculum, Objective, Skill and Concept Relation

Abstract:

Parallel to the changes in science, technology and social life, it is an important necessity to organize and implement changes in teaching programs to meet the requirements of the era. In this study, it was aimed to reveal the reflection levels of objective, skill and concept relation of 2005 Social Studies Curriculum (6th grade) by expert opinions, so as to shed light on new programs. Opinions were received from 10 field expert academicians who worked at four different universities in the study. Field experts were required to determine the objective, skill and concept relations of all units in the 6th grade curriculum. Based on the study, it has been understood that the views of field experts on objective, skill and concept relation do not generally align with the objectives and skills in the 6th grade 2005 Social Studies Curriculum and the concepts highlighted in the units as expected. Based on the results obtained from the findings, it is suggested that in the regulations related to the curriculum by taking into account the views of teachers and stakeholders misunderstandings and deficiencies should be reconsidered and solved
