TURKISH MARITIME FROM THE ANGLE OF THE AK?AM NEWSPAPER IN THE PROCESS OF TRANSITION TO THE COLD WAR (1945-1950)Keywords: Ak?am,Bas?n,Deniz Müzesi Naval,Denizcilik Tarihi Abstract: Abstract Within a few years after WWII, the political structure shaped on the axis of a bipolar world order based on the competition among the victorious countries. In this period which would be named as Cold War, branches such as shipping were among the areas of interest of the Turkish media for several reasons. The publications of Ak?am newspaper in the field of shipping formed a broad range that covered historical, military, economic, and institutional aspects. Such publications were generally written by the outstanding columnists of the period like Abidin Daver, Haluk Y. ?ehsuvaro?lu and Cemalettin Bildik in addition to well-known engineers such as Naci Ark. Supporting a nationalist structure in the field of shipping via its columns and columnists, Ak?am presented an effort to orient the society in this direction as one might expect. Without doubt, in Turkey, a Mediterranean country surrounded by three seas, these approaches or studies which include a vision to provide improvement with a productive identity in terms of shipping are significant for questioning the adaptation of the society to the issue and identifying its interest, amenities, and knowledge of the subject. With a historical approach, this study aims to analyze the approach to shipping in Turkey and its social perception in a period while the world was drifting to Cold War and Turkey was experiencing the transformation to multi-party system, especially the period between the years 1947-1950, via a content-based selection of similar articles published in Ak?am newspaper
