The Brief Personal Meaning Profile (PMP-B): Turkish Validity and Reliability

Purpose of this research is adapting The Brief Personal Meaning Profile (PMP-B) to Turkish culture. According to the exploratory factor analysis, 7 factor structures including 3 items was obtained in one dimension of the PMP-B as is the case in its original form. This structure explains 66.4% of the total variance. Confirmatory factor analysis results produced acceptable adaptive values as [χ2(168, N = 308) = 447.88, p<0.01; IFI = 0.92; CFI = 0.92; SRMR = 0.073; RMSEA = 0.074]. In the analysis done for criterion validity of the scale, a positive medium relationship was determined between PMP-B and existence of meaning in life (r= 0.38; p<0.01), life satisfaction (r= 0.45; p<0.01) and life purpose (r= 0.49; p<0.01). Internal consistency coefficient was calculated as .84. It was specified that internal consistency values of the sub-dimensions were between .64 and .83. All these results show that PMP-B is a valid and reliable instrument for Turkish culture
