The Impact of Using Social Media in Blended Learning Environments on Student Satisfaction

Abstract:

Object of this experimental study is to determine effect of social media in blended learning environments on satisfaction of students. The research was applied to 109 university students from their education at 2016-2017 fall semester. During the course of application, students took the lesson as the combination of face to face and online. In the online learning environment, material sharing, forum, exam, text, picture and video supported lesson summaries parts included. The social media named as Course Networking (CN) which was designed for supporting online learning environments used in the study. Up to 7th week, the course was given to the students by using Moodle environment. After 7th week CN system were opened and students used this platform. At the middle and the end of the learning period, a satisfaction scale for the effectiveness of learning environment and a survey for the impact of using social media in blended learning on student perception had been applied to the students
