THE NATURE OF “AL-WAQF AL-CāIZ” -Within the Framework of Secāwendī’s Work and the Meaning of Related Verses-Keywords: Tefsir,Vakf-? Caiz,Secavend,Mana Abstract: ABSTRACT THE NATURE OF “AL-WAQF AL-CāIZ” -Within the Framework of Secāwendī’s Work and the Meaning of Related Verses- Secāwendī, in his Ilelu'l-Vuqūf, has divided waqf into six categories. At the introduction of his work, Secāwendī has defined these six categories, has explained the definitions with examples, and indicated which symbols would be used in his work for these categories. One of the categories in the classification performed by Secāwendī is the kind of waqf that he calls “al-waqf al-cāiz”. The author has indicated that he will use the letter “?” as a symbol for this category. Secāwendī has defined “al-waqf al-cāiz” as “a waqf that is both stopping (waqf) and transition (wasl) are appropriate, because there are necessary and possible reasons for making stopping (waqf) and transition (wasl)”. Especially today, in some works related to the subject, “al-waqf al-cāiz” is defined as “the place in where it is better to make waqf although both stopping (waqf) and transition (wasl) were appropriate.” Perhaps by virtue of the definitions made, “al-waqf al-cāiz” is generally known as such. But to define of “al-waqf al-cāiz” as “the place in where it is better to make waqf although both stopping (waqf) and transition (wasl) were appropriate” it does not coincide exactly with the terminology of Secāwendī. And also does not overlap the use in his work and the proper meaning of the related verses. In addition, moving according to with the definition that stopping is more appropriate, will reveal the risk of deterioration of the semantic completeness of the relevant verses or missing their proper meaning. This situation requires to be determine the nature of “al-waqf al-cāiz” category of Secāwendī in accordance with the definition and use of Secāwendī and the meaning of the verses. In this article, it is aimed at explaining the nature of "al-waqf al-cāiz" category of Secāwendī
