High School Students’ and Pre-Service Science Teachers’ Generated Analogy Towards Biology

In this study, it was aimed to determine the analogies developed by secondary school students and science teacher candidates on the concept of biology. The research group of the study is composed of 118 secondary school students who are studying at secondary schools in one province in the western region of Turkey in 2016-2017 academic year and 151 science teachers who are studying at the Faculty of Education at the same university. Data of work is collected through forms that contain "Biology is like ............... because ……”. In the analysis of the data, content analysis technique was used. As a result of the analysis of the data; 59 different analogies of the secondary school students and 54 different analogy teachers of the science teacher candidates. As a result of the study, it has been determined that the analizations developed by the secondary school students and science teacher candidates towards the concept of biology are generally positive. Both secondary students and science teacher candidates have biology in general; they expressed with the concepts that are constantly evolving from within life and which we need every time
