Evaluation of sociodemographic, familial and clinicalfeatures of inpatients with schizophrenia in a Trainingand Research HospitalKeywords: Sosyodemografik ?zellikler,?izofreni,tedavi,yatan hasta Abstract: Abstract Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the socidemographic, familial and clinical features of hospitalized schizophrenia patients and also to review of this features’ effect on course of disease, treatment and whereat onpatients life. Method: The inpatients, hospitalized in Beyhekim Psychiatry Clinic of Konya Training Hosiptal between January 2011 and September 2014 treated with the diagnosisof sczhioprenia included in this study. Using the forms prepared by researchers as data collection tool, information of133 women and 154 male patients were recorded. Results: Of the study group, 46 % of the patients werefemale and 53,7 % of the patients were male. The mean agewas 37.90 ±11.15 years old. There was no statistical significance between genders according to marital status, placeof birth, educational status, who they were living with, thestarting age of the disease, mean duration of illness, juicidal status changes parameters. Gender parameter was statistically different on work status, number of hospitalization, smoking, alcohol, substance abuse, treatment compliance parameters. There was a inversely correlation between treatment compliance and number of hospitalization. Suicide attempt incidence was higher in females and this showed a slighty statistical difference. The incidence of schizophrenia and schizophrenialike diseases in families of female schizophrenia patients’ (49.6%) was found to be statistically significantly higher than the incidence of schizoph-renia and schizophrenia-like diseases in families of male schizophrenia patients’ (37.0%). Conclusion: In schizophrenia, a better understanding ofthe predisposing factors of the disease, the resources usedin the management of the disease, the outcome of treatmentand lack of treatment will contribute to future planning. Asthis contribution is culturally specific, multicentered welldesigned studies are needed in this field
