The Uncanny Sounds Emanating from the Social Body: The Aesthetics of Gezi or the ‘ticktickticktickticktick’sKeywords: Estetik, Gürültü, Grotesk, Karnaval, Gezi Park? Abstract: In this paper, the relationship between art and social movements is analysed by following the question of how and through what kind of practices the aesthetics of social movements become sensible. The various sounds that came out of Gezi Park Protests, such as the songs produced by artists and amateurs, sounds of pots and pans in the streets and repetitive sounds spreading from barricades, constitute a basis for the analysis. The peculiarity of these sounds to social movements in terms of their forms and meanings is examined via the concepts of carnival, noise and grotesque together with the theories of Adorno, Bakhtin, and Attal
