An Examination on the Presentation of Childhood in Outdoor Advertisements of Colleges

Abstract:

In outdoor advertisements of private colleges, children are treated like adults and they are emphasized that they are special, they are convinced that they have to be successful. In the outdoor advertisements of these colleges, success is shown as the most important dynamic of life. It is observed that children are forced to be the best, they are challenged success, and they are expecting an academic and artistic success well above their age. Children who are exposed to these messages and are forced to behave in accordance with such messages in school and in their families are inevitably forced to experience spiritual difficulties. The aim of the study is to investigate whether the data on the childhood of advertisements messages of educational institutions carry the above-mentioned characteristics. In this direction, college advertisements have been examined with semiology method. As a result of the examinations, the outdoor advertisements of colleges present childhood with masculinity, narcissism, perfection etc. parameters such as and the examination aim that try to put forward a perspective in this direction. It has been seen that sexbased features masculinity have been loaded to childhood. It has been determined that childhood is a concept that turns into success
