EVALUATION OF ACTIVITIES OF PHARMACEUTICAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CENTERS IN TURKEY IN TERMS OF INNOVATION AND PATENT

Objective: This study aims to evaluate the incentives that are provided in the scope of the Law 5746 which regulate the support for R & D activities in Turkey, to determine the R & D centers that are established with these incentives, and to investigate the patents and innovation activities, which appear to be the products of the incentives. Material and Method: A questionnaire form was conducted to collect information from R&D centers which have been established since November 30, 2018 in our country, patent research was done by writing pharmaceutical companies as patent applicants in TURKPATENT database, a total of 142 research reports which were prepared for patent applications applied by the pharmaceutical companies after they established R & D centers were investigated. Result and Discussion: As a result, innovation activities of R & D centers which have incentives provided by the Ministry of Industry and Technology and the number of patent applications increased. After have established R & D centers, there began a tendency towards European patent protection in pharmaceutical companies. R & D centers give importance to innovation activities within the scope of incentives and continue their projects, products and patent studies. In order to increase innovation and patent studies, government incentives should be increased and more trainings should be organized
