Investigation and Judgement of the Rebirth Process in the Transition Period that Deeply Affect the Bulgarian Muslims

In the present study, the paper titled "The Reminiscence and Political Use of the Rebirth Process During the Transition Period" written by Prof. Dr. Evgeniya Kalinova, a lecturer at the Faculty of History of Kliment Ohridski in Bulgaria was translated into Turkish and analyzed. Kalinova's study portrays different viewpoints of the state administration, the academic and political elite, a vast majority of public and the Bulgarian governments towards the rebirth process and assimilation attempt. Kalinova has many studies and scientific works on Bulgarian Turks and cultural and political interactions between the Bulgarian and Turkish communities, minority politics of the Bulgarian governments and issues regarding the Bulgarian Muslims are at the center of these studies. The period of 1990-2010 during which transition from socialism to capitalism in the Republic of Bulgaria took place was called the "transition period" for the scientific publications in Bulgaria and in her study, Kalinova examined this period full of economic and political turmoil in two periods; the first transition period (1990-2001) and second transition period (2001-2009). In Kalinova's work, while, the bravery of the Bulgarian people and the Bulgarian politicians to face the national history, their self-criticism and the social tolerance were questioned, on the other hand, the impact and reflection of the cultural life of the assimilation attempts on the culturel life applied to the Bulgarian Muslims through concerts, cinema, theater and similar artistic activities were discussed. Since the number of published scientific studies in Turkey related to ethnic policies pursued by the Bulgarian government during the rebirth process and post-socialist period is scarce, the work written down by Kalinova becomes all the more important
