Evaluation of Health Services Taking into Account the Development Level of Cities by Means of Cluster Analysis in Turkey

Health is defined as a state of complete well-being and health services are such a kind of services which help to protect and sustain the health situation. There are several factors which affect health services and the level of services individuals utilized. One of the factors is that social and economic development level where individuals live. Turkey is one of the developing countries and despite this there are huge development differences among the cities. Differences could be seen in health services at the city level. Because of this reason, this study investigates the differences among the cities on the consideration of development and health service level. Ward clustering method is chosen for the analysis. The analysis consists of 81 cities and uses 31 health variables. Health variables are taken from “Health Statistics Annual” prepared by The Ministry of Health. Results reveal that there is a positive correlation between social-economic development and health service level for cities
