INFECTION FOLLOWING THE APPLICATION OF MEDICAL LEECHES

Hirudotherapy is a form of treatment using medical leeches (Hirudo medicinalis). Since ancient times, medicine has been used to treat a variety of conditions. The mechanism of action of hirudotherapy occurs when leeches are sucking blood into the circulation, injecting a secretion in which there are many bioactive substances. Possible complications due to hirudotherapy include long-term bleeding, wound infections, anemia and allergic conditions. In this case report, we presented a case of lenfajitis infection and classical treatment as well as treatment with neural therapy following a wound infection following hirudotherapy
