Problems of Adapting to University Atmosphere among High Achievement Students at Najran University in Relation to some Variables

The current study aimed to investigate the problems of adapting to university atmosphere among high achievement students at Najran University in relation to the variables of college, the academic year and the place of residence. The sample consisted of (141) students who were selected purposefully from the various faculties of the university, and they constituted (26%) of the original population. The questionnaire was used for data collection. The results showed that the overall mean of the problems of university adaptation was (2.87) of a medium rank. Economic problems, housing problems and academic and study problems scored the highest means of a medium rank. The results also showed statistically significant differences in the problems of university adjustment as a whole due to the effect of the college variable in favor of science colleges; to the variable of the academic year in favor of the first year students; and to the variable of residence in favor of the students residing in the campus. The study recommended that the Deanship of Student Affairs at the University adopt a comprehensive training program to reduce the problems of adapting to university among high achievement students.
