The Perceptions of Faculty Members in Jordanian Universities of the Skills that University Students Should Possess in the 21st Century

The present study aimed to identify the perceptions of faculty members in Jordanians Universities of the skills that university student should possess in the 21st century. The study also aimed to identify the differences according to the variables of gender and academic rank. The study sample consisted of (250) faculty members. To achieve the objectives of the study, a questionnaire was designed and checked for validity. The study results showed that the score of the participants’ perceptions of the skills that university students should have in the 21st century was high. The results also indicated that there were no statistically significant differences due to the effect of gender variable and the variable of academic rank. The study recommended the need to formulate and adopt a new vision for Jordanian universities based on the reality, needs and philosophy of society. There is also a need to develop the curricula and methods of teaching in Jordanian universities to include the development of various skills needed by university students after graduation.
