Identifying the opportunities and threats of sport climbing in Iran

The purpose of this research was to identify Sport Climbing’s opportunities and threats in Iran. This is an applicable and descriptive-analytical study. For this purpose, at first the present status of Iran’s Sport Climbing was studied by gathering information from library resources, internet and designed forms. A researcher-made questionnaire was prepared. 12 climbing experts and professors confirmed its validity. The reliability of the questionnaire consisting of 35 items was approved with Cronbach’s Alfa (α=0.952). Eighty seven coaches, route setters, judges, elite athletes and managers of sport climbing in Iran completed it. In analyzing data, both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics model, Chi-squared test and Friedman test was done by using SPSS and Excel software. The External factors Evaluation Matrix (EFE) revealed that the external position of the Sport Climbing in Iran was in T area(EFE=2.464)
