Bio efficacy of liquid Beauveria bassiana for the management of pseudo stem borer (Odoiporus longicollis Olivier) in Hill banana of Kollihills

The pseudostem borer (Odoiporus longicollis Olivier) is one of the most dangerous pest in banana crop. Front Line Demonstrations were carried out at Kollihills of Namakkal District, Tamil Nadu, India during the period 2013-2014 with liquid beauvericide (Beauveria bassiana) against pseudostem borer/weevil, Odoiporus longicollis Oliver (Coleoptera : Curculionidae) in hill banana in 20 farmers field covering an area of 8 hectares. Beauvericide spray recorded the highest per cent reduction (64.43% ) of pseudo stem borer infestation in hill banana. Swabbing of beauvericide in pseudostem traps reduced the infestation of borer by 36.38 per cent than the farmers practice (11.75%).
