Molecular modeling in search of newer anti-HIV agents: A review

Development of new drugs to treat AIDs has been the foremost intention of many medicinal chemists since last two decades. This may be attributed to the ever changing nature of AIDs virus through rapid mutations and the highly immune-compromised condition of AIDs’ patient who is threatened further by severe secondary complications. With deep concern to these problems, we have tried to give insight to the development of newer anti-HIV drugs through the use of molecular modeling approach. In this review, we have put forth the research studies carried out on some important chemical analogs which have been the outcome of drug design and which can be used as important leads to prepare future drug candidates to treat HIV infection
