Training of Judicial Officials in European Private Law

Sa？etak The author starts with the thesis that it is necessary to ensure unified and correct application of EU legislation throughout the EU, including Croatia as a new Member State. The article focuses on the rules of European private law as a small fragment of the acquis, but emphasizes that everything mentioned is relevant for proper application of the whole EU acquis. In this context, the training of judicial officials is considered to be a key tool for raising the knowledge and skills of judges and prosecutors related to EU law and therefore for improving the unified and correct application of EU law in the judicial systems of the Member States. Some of the best comparative practices of judicial training applied in EU member states are presented with an emphasis on those practices that can be easily transferable to other Member States including in Croatia. Particular attention is paid to the most important aspects of judicial training such as the training needs assessment of the judiciary, the definition of training programs, the selection of trainers and evaluation of the training activities
