医学疾病术语不论在命名还是翻译过程中都应遵循相应的伦理标准和规则。只有当疾病的中英文术语做到规范化、准确性和实用性的统一要求时，疾病术语才能被大众接受和使用。“新型冠状病毒肺炎”对应的英文名是COVID-19。新冠疫情作为国际公共卫生紧急事件，需要统一的国际命名和翻译标准。COVID-19包含了疾病类型和出现时间等基本信息，符合疾病术语的命名标准、社会伦理道德和医学伦理道德。
Both the nomenclature and translation
of diseases’ terminology should be in compliance with corresponding ethical
rules. The Chinese and English names of diseases must be accurate, practical
and standardized so that they can be disseminated and accepted by the public.
The COVID-19 pandemic, as a public health emergency of international concern,
should follow international nomenclature and translation standards. The term “COVID-19”
includes the basic information, such as type and occurrence time of the
disease, which is in line with the nomenclature, social ethnics, and medical
ethnics.
