EXPERIENCING THE DEATH/DIE PROCESS IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM: PERCEPTION OF NURSING TECHNICIANSDOI: -, PP. 11-19 Keywords: Nursing, Team, Emergencies, Death, Patient Abstract: Objective: To understand how the nursing technical team perceives and experiences the death / dying process in the emergency room. Methods: descriptive and exploratory study, with a qualitative approach. Twenty nursing technicians who worked in the emergency sector participated in two public emergency services located in northern Paraná. Data were collected through semi-structured, audio-recorded interviews that, after being transcribed, were subjected to Content Analysis, Thematic modality. Results: it was possible to understand how the nursing technical team deals with the death / dying process of emergency patients. Such experience is sustained in the categories: “Lack of preparation to face the experience of the first death”; “Experiencing the death / dying process with sadness and regret”; and “Death as a daily experience in the work process”. Final Considerations: although death is routine in the life of nursing professionals, they still face difficulties to deal with this event in the emergency room. This reinforces the importance of training, since the course, so that the experience of the death / dying process is less traumatic as possible.
