Non-metric variation of the Muisca dentition in the northern Andes of Colombia, South America

Sa？etak This article presents dental non-metric data observed in Muisca samples from the central-eastern Andes of Colombia. Permanent teeth of 146 individuals between 5 and 40 years of age belonging to five pre-Hispanic human cemeteries were observe. Fifteen dental traits were score following the ASUDAS method. A comparison between the values of the five samples shows that biological homogeneity did exist within these populations. At least 800 years of genetic continuity and biological interbreeding among populations of the same Muisca cultural tradition are express in similar frequencies of dental traits. All samples are Sinodonts
