BREZOVLJANIDOI: 10.17234/OA.37.17 Keywords: Brezovljani, Neolithic, Brezovljani type of the Sopot culture, settlement, pottery Abstract: Sa?etak In 1973, Stojan Dimitrijevi? led excavations at the Neolithic site of Brezovljani, researching a part of the settlement he thought might have been used as a center of pottery production. The excavations helped define a new type of the Sopot culture – Brezovljani, which reflected the influences of the Lengyel and stroke– ornamented ware culture from the central European circle. Since 2002, the Kri?evci City Museum has been leading systematic excavations which confirm Dimitrijevi?’s assumption about the existence of a pottery production center within a larger Neolithic settlement. Two phases of habitation have been recorded at the site. Our knowledge on movable archaeological finds has been expanded, especially about decorated fine pottery of the Brezovljani type of Sopot culture
