Abstract:

Sa?etak The Pod near Bru?ka site not far from Benkovac was excavated as part of an archaeological campaign which was a precondition for building a gas line through Lika and Dalmatia. The research included an extensive archaeological survey of the area and the excavation of two out of 29 mounds (gomila) recorded in the Pod valley. Excavation results show that both mounds were made by the destruction of prehistoric drywall architecture the remains of which were found on both mounds. The relative chronology established on pottery fragments places the remains at the transition between the Copper and the Early Bronze Age, that is, to the second half of the 3rd century BC. Considering site characteristics, this paper discusses movable and unmovable archaeological finds and their interrelations. Based on obtained data, and within given special and temporal scope, possible interpretations are also discussed based on ethnological analogies in the framework of other archaeological data
