Sa？etak Self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) has become one of the firefighters’ most important pieces of equipment, both for personal safety and for allowing the user to operate in the hostile atmosphere of fire. The basic requirements for each SCBA user are the good health of the user as determined by the prescribed medical examination and the actual physical fitness of each individual. In addition, the user must be thoroughly theoretically and practically qualified for use of SCBA. Safe and effective use of SCBA requires more from the user than a basic familiarization of how SCBA works.
