IVAN KUKULJEVI? SAKCINSKI IN THE RADOVI ANNUAL OF THE INSTITUTE FOR SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH WORK OF THE CROATIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND ARTS IN VARA?DINDOI: 10.21857/m3v76tz1ey Keywords: Ivan Kukuljevi? Sakcinski published in the Radovi edition by the Institute for Scientific Research Work in Vara?din. These are all, with one exception, authorized presentations from scientific conferences organised at Kukuljevi?’s Days manifestation in Vara?dinske Toplice. The authors are: Miroslav Kurelac, Aleksandra Kolari?, Ivan Zvonar, Mirjana Matijevi?-Sokol, Stjepan Hranjec, Miroslav ?icel, Bo?ena Filipan, Denis Peri?i?, Tomislav ?uri?, Dubravka Frankovi? and Stjepan Damjanovi?, who presented his paper at the conference, Homage to Vatroslav Jagi? 1838 – 2003. Roundtable held in Vara?din on 23 September 2013. In their texts the aforementioned authors highlighted the most important events from life and work of Ivan Kukuljevi? Sakcinski. Ivan Kukuljevi? Sakcinski was not only the founder of numerous scientific disciplines but also of many archives, libraries, museums, magazines, and of cultural and historical societies. He gathered historical materials and sources (state archive), published significant historical documents, wrote scientific historical discussions and was also a biographer, archaeologist, art historian, bibliographer and bibliophile. Kukuljevi? was one of the most important public figures in Croatia in the 19th century, and as the founder of the modern Croatian historiography, he was the subject in a thorough discussion by Jaroslav ?idak. Ivan Kukuljevi? Sakcinski holds an important place in literature as he was the first to publish an extensive collection of folk tales in all three Croatian dialects. The scientific classification of Kajkavian folk songs did not start before Kukuljevi? so that his merits in this field are also of utmost importance. Kukuljevi? founded the modern Croatian bibliography. He was its theoretician as well as the writer of biographical monographs and biographical collections of papers. Through scientific discussions he contributed to the development of biographies and the history of Croatian literature, and with the biographical lexicon he founded the history of art as well. Furthermore, his contributions on fairies are of exceptional importance for the Croatian mythology. Ivan Kukuljevi? Sakcinski’s work “Slovnik umjetnika jugoslavenskih” (Eng. Lexicon of South- Slavic Artists) represents a step forward in the development of the Croatian musical culture. All the authors stressed the importance of publishing Kukuljevi?’s legacy for the purpose of further research
