Topochemically-Equivalent Peptidomimetics and the Design of Postprandial Serum Triglyceride Level-Reducing Compounds

The alarming prevalence of obesity and cardiovascular diseases worldwide and the limited success in alleviating them continue to call for new strategies in terms of cellular pathways and pharmacotherapeutic agent design. With a focus on the reduction of serum triglyceride levels, a series of low molecular-weight retro-inversopeptidomimetics has been developed and their biological activities tested with animal experiments involving oral administration. The results exhibit a remarkable reduction of postprandial serum triglyceride concentration, potentially providing a novel avenue of addressing these health problems.
