Photovoltaic Solar Panel Cooled with Runoff WaterDOI: 10.5923/j.ijee.20201002.02 Keywords: CFD, Efficiency, Photovoltaics, Cooling water runoff Abstract: The exploitation of solar photovoltaic (PV) panels under extreme climatic conditions greatly reduces their effectiveness. Indeed, under intense sunlight and high temperatures in the ambient air, the solar panels can reach 100°C. To overcome this dysfunction, are used for cooling. This work is precisely cooling a solar panel by runoff on the front of the PV panel. To determine the equilibrium temperature of the cooled panel, we solve the coupled system of equations of motion and energy. The complexity of the equations into play requires some simplifying assumptions. We first consider a plane flow for which analytically determining the thickness of the thin film with the velocity field. What defines the flow area of the water film. This domain is then exploited in a CFD calculation code to solve the equation of energy and determining the temperature profile through the film as well as the equilibrium temperature of the surface on which the water trickles. The results obtained show the effectiveness of the cooling system
