Current status of the treatment of infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysmsAbstract: Aortic aneurysms are the 13th leading cause of death in the United States and approximately 4,500 deaths each year are secondary to abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) rupture. An additional 1,400 deaths occur as a result of the 45,000 procedures performed to prevent rupture (1,2). The standardized death rate from ruptured AAAs in patients over the age of 45 is 5.6 per 100,000 individuals (3)
