Disorders/differences of sex development (DSDs) for primary care: the approach to the infant with ambiguous genitaliaAbstract: The term ambiguous genitalia encompasses a variety of disorders labeled as DSDs, or disorders of sex development, (alternatively, differences in sex development). DSDs have been defined as congenital conditions in which development of chromosomal, gonadal or anatomical sex is atypical (1-3), and comprise a wide set of metabolic and anatomic defects and variants that often can result in atypical genital appearance and may lead to emotional and psychological distress if not sensitively addressed
