Multimodality treatment in limited small cell lung cancer (L-SCLC): different perspectives about the optimal approachDOI: 10.21037/8843 Abstract: Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) represents 15% of all lung cancers and is characterized by a rapid growth and early development of widespread metastases. Approximately 30% of patients with SCLC presents with limited disease treated with curative intent (1). The body of literature investigating the role of surgery as an integral part of treatment of limited SCLC (L-SCLC) in addition to intensive radio- and chemotherapy is consistent, but the subgroup of patients who might benefit from such approach and the best treatment sequence have not clearly defined yet
