Early β-blockers administration might be associated with a reduced risk of contrast-induced acute kidney injury in patients with acute myocardial infarctionAbstract: Contrast-induced acute kidney injury (CI-AKI) is a frequent complication following contrast medium (CM) exposure, which prolongs hospitalization, increases mortality and costs of health-care (1). In patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), the incidence of CI-AKI ranges from 10% to 30% during the hospitalization, and patients with AMI who suffer cardiogenic shock will exceed 50% (2-6). Among patients with AMI, compared with patients who did not had CI-AKI, those who had CI-AKI would increase fivefold short-term mortality and about sevenfold long-term mortality (7)
